Give your booking page its own address

Your booking link is thezi.app/v/ followed by a long code. It works everywhere, but book.yourrestaurant.co.uk is nicer on a menu or a chalkboard. You can have that in about five minutes.

What you are setting up

A redirect (some places call it forwarding). When someone types your address, they land on your booking page. That is all.

It has to be a redirect. A plain DNS record (a CNAME) pointing at Thezi will not work, and a domain expert who suggests one is thinking of a different kind of set-up.

Where to do it

Wherever your domain lives. That is usually where you bought it, or your website builder if you bought it through them. Copy your booking link from Your website in your dashboard first.

GoDaddyMy Products → Domains → your domain → Forwarding → Add. Enter book as the subdomain and paste your booking link as the destination. Choose Permanent (301).

123-regControl Panel → Manage → Web forwarding. Add book and paste the link.

NamecheapDomain List → Manage → Advanced DNS → Add new record → URL Redirect Record. Host book, value your link, type Permanent.

CloudflareYour zone → Rules → Redirect Rules → Create. Match hostname book.yourdomain, redirect to your link, status 301. You will also need a placeholder DNS record for book (an A record to 192.0.2.1, proxied) for the rule to fire.

Squarespace DomainsDomains → your domain → DNS → Forwarding (older accounts: URL mappings). Add book and the link.

Wix — Wix cannot forward a subdomain itself. Do it at the registrar you bought the domain from, or put the form on a page of your Wix site instead.

Anywhere else — search your provider's help for "subdomain forwarding".

Check it

It can take up to an hour to start working. Type the address on your phone. If it opens your booking page, you are done. Tell us at hello@thezi.app if you get stuck — send the address and we will look.

Why we don't do this for you

We could, but it would mean asking you for control of your domain, and you should never hand that to a booking system. A redirect keeps it yours.

Still stuck? hello@thezi.app reaches a person, usually the same day.
