Tables and the floor plan

Thezi needs to know your tables so it can tell a diner whether there is room. There are two ways to give it that, and you can use either or both.

Typing them in

Open the menu (the cog) and choose Tables.

1. Give the table a label — whatever you call it on the floor: "Window 4", "Bar 2", "Snug".
2. Set the smallest and largest party it takes. A four-top might be 2 to 4; a bar stool 1 to 1.
3. Press Add table.

That is enough to take bookings. When a diner asks for a table for three at 7pm, Thezi finds a free table whose range fits, preferring the smallest, so a couple does not get your six-top.

Drawing your room

Press Draw your floor plan. You walk the room's corners, place the tables, and give each one its number and seats. It takes ten minutes for a typical room and you only do it once.

Once drawn, the Floor plan tab during service colours each table by how full it is: green while free, through amber, to red when every seat is taken. Staff glance at it instead of asking.

Every table you draw is also a table in your list, so there is nothing to keep in step. Renumbering a drawn table renames the same table; deleting one removes it.

Two things worth knowing

• Drawn and typed tables live together. A table you typed in and never drew still takes bookings; it just is not on the plan.
• Seats are what you say they are. Thezi never guesses how many people fit from how big you drew the table. If a table takes six, tell it six.

Big parties

A booking goes on one table. For a party larger than any table takes, set the largest table's range to cover it, or take the booking over the phone and seat them where you like on the night. Joining tables together is not built yet; tell us if you need it.
