What diners receive by email
When they book
A confirmation, within a minute, with:
- your name, the date and time, and the number of guests;
- their reference, if you use them;
- a link to their booking, where they can cancel it.
The subject line is Your table at [your restaurant] — [day and time].
To cancel from that link they are asked for the email address they booked with, so a forwarded copy of the email cannot cancel their table.
When a booking is cancelled
A short cancellation email — whether they cancelled it themselves or you did from the dashboard. No email is sent if a booking simply lapses before the card step is finished; they never had a table.
What we do not send
- Reminders. Not yet.
- Text messages. We do not do SMS — the cost per message does not survive a fixed monthly price. Email and, later, WhatsApp.
- Anything marketing. Your guest list is yours; we never write to it.
Why the emails are plain
They are plain text on purpose: they arrive in every inbox, cannot carry a tracking pixel, and are very hard to get wrong. A booking confirmation has nothing to gain from a layout — the diner wants the time, the place and the cancel link.
Where they come from
From Thezi, on your behalf, with your restaurant's name in the subject and the body. A reply to the email does not reach you — the diner has their reference and the cancel link, and your phone number is on your website. Replies landing in your own inbox is planned.
A diner says they did not get one
Ask them to check junk, then check the address on the booking in your dashboard. If the address was mistyped, we cannot fix that after the fact; take their correct address and add the booking again over the phone.
Still stuck? hello@thezi.app reaches a person, usually the same day.
